The goal of this poster series was to combine my concentration, graphic design, with a second area of interest—women’s studies. Empowerment is the key to reaching gender equity and promoting women’s health. I wanted to empower women by supporting their ability to make choices for themselves through the series. Each poster contains two icons illustrating daily choices that a woman makes; each proposed choice is intended to initially instigate that there is one ‘right’ choice. I contradict this by proposing that ‘our choice is the right choice’—exclaiming that the self-empowering decisions that women make are valid in themselves. The ‘empowerment’ logo I created connects to the foundations of third-wave feminism and insinuates that feminist empowerment can be derived from respecting other women’s choices along with being confident in your own.
