Pooka and Neave: Book Design

I designed this book for children, but also intended for the storyline to be empowering for the parent who’s reading it. I rendered the mock-up as a softback copy with a thicker matte cover and glossy spread pages to maintain the presentation of the common format of a children’s book. The character Pooka is inspired by Irish folklore, and I chose the character Neave to reflect the Irish ties. The book encourages children that despite their differences, there will always be someone who appreciates them for who they are. I paired the story that I wrote with soft, cute, and quirky cartoon-like illustrations that can easily be digested by children.
